"Grasping God's Word To Witness"

Introduction

Grasping God’s Word to Witness should excite us in wanting to witness the same way self improvement book’s excite others that want to be successful in life. 

Opening Class Question-
  1. What are the self-improvement books, seminar, or shows that influence you in wanting to be successful. Why?


Passage

In God’ word there are many examples of people being successful in ministry, and in Acts 2:15-41 it show’s Peter grasping God’s word to witness. We see the power of God’s word being used to bring others to Christ

  1. Acts 2:15-21, Peter’s 1st Sermon Introductory using God’s word
  1. Why do you think that Peter started his first sermon with prophecy from Joel?
  2. What were things of Joel’s prophecy that was appealing enough to the people that made them want to continue to listen to Peter’s message?

Applying God’s Word For Successful Witnessing
In Peter’s first sermon we see him grasping God’s word to compare it to what He witnessed, and it was Christ being the resurrected messiah. Peter used the Old Testament to show how Jesus was the promise Messiah, and He showed how Jesus’ resurrection was prophesized by David. We can see in this passage on how Grasping God’s word is to be used for witnessing. 
  1. Why was it important for Peter to know the Old Testament, when he spoke of being witnesses of the resurrected Messiah? 
  2. As followers of Christ why is it important for us to grasp His Word to be witnesses of Him?
